How incredible are these tropical rainbow birds? They are super fun and easy to craft, especially with the craft template ready. Take out the watercolors and create a beautiful rainbow bird craft with your kids.
If you don’t have a skewer or big (wooden) beat at home, don’t worry. You can always find a stick outside or an old pencil (for the bird’s body), and when you combine them with the wings template, you already have a fantastic bird craft! As long as you and your kids enjoy the process and playtime afterward.

Craft supplies rainbow bird craft
- White paper (preferably a little thicker/heavier paper like this)
- You can also use our bird wing template (I recommend printing on thicker paper)
- Watercolors
- Skewer (or a stick from outside or an old pencil)
- Orange paint or marker
- Pipe cleaners
- Big bead for the head (don’t worry if you don’t have one)
- Googly eyes or black marker
- Scissor
- Glue
Step 1: Print the bird’s wing template or draw them yourself on white (preferably thicker) paper
Step 2: Color the wings with watercolors, pencils, or markers. We gave our birds rainbow wings.
Step 3: Cut the wings
Step 4: Cut a skewer to 6 inches (16 CM); take some orange paint/marker, and paint the pointy part orange, about 1 inch (3 CM). Let your orange bird beak dry. If you don’t have a skewer, use an old pencil or a stick from the outside.
Step 5: Wrap some colored pipe cleaners around your pencil and remove the orange part.
Step 6: Take a big beat and glue two googly eyes on each side (or draw two eyes with a black marker). If you don’t have a big moment, you can use a pom-pom, marble, or a tin foil ball and glue them on top.
Step 7: Glue the beat on your skewer right before the orange beak.
Step 8: YAY, the final step! Glue the body in the middle of your wings. Great job, now it’s time to play!
