Spring is almost here, so time for spring art ideas like these colorful tulips created from a cotton pad. This super easy tulip craft idea makes the perfect Mother´s Day gift for toddlers, preschoolers, or kindergarten!
Did you know you can quickly turn a cotton pad into a tulip? Cotton pads are great for painting as liquid paint colors blend nicely on the cotton pad, just like the colors of a tulip.

Craft supplies for this easy tulip craft
- Cotton pads
- Liquid paint, water-down acrylic paint, tempera paint or use watercolours
- Droppers, we used the adorable animal droppers from Curious Columbus
- Crayons
- White paper or green paper
- Scissor
- Glue
Step-by-step craft instructions
Step 1: Gather the craft supplies above
Step 2: Easily cut your cotton pads into a tulip shape. See the picture above. You can also first paint the cotton pads and cut them in a tulip shape when dry.
Step 3: Use liquid paint to paint the cotton pads. We watered down acrylic paint and used droppers to apply the paint on the cotton pads. Water-down tempera paint also works, or you can use watercolors and a brush.
Step 4: We placed our cotton pads on a big plate. You can also use a tray or a tablecloth to ensure the liquid paint won´t spill on the table. See the picture below. We used the animal droppers from Curious Columbus.
Step 5: Let your cotton pads dry completely
Step 6: When the cotton pads are dry, you can position them on white or green paper. First, see where you want to place them. You can draw the tulip stems and pedals when you’re happy with the positioning.
Step 7: Glue your cotton pad tulips on the paper!
