Cotton Pad Tulip Craft Instructions
Step-by-step Cotton Pad Tulip Craft
Step 1: Gather the craft supplies listed above. If you’re working with little ones, don’t forget to let them wear an apron and use a tablecloth to keep things tidy!
Step 2: How many tulips would you like to create? Start by taking your cotton pads and cutting them into a tulip shape. Fold the cotton pad in half and cut out a small triangle piece, resembling the letter V. Make sure your V is a bit curvy to achieve a nicely rounded tulip. Check the picture above for reference! If you prefer, you can also paint the cotton pads first and then cut them into tulip shapes once they’re dry.

Step 3: Now it’s time to paint your tulips and achieve that beautiful tie-dye effect. For the best results, use liquid paint. We decided to water down some acrylic paint and used our adorable animal droppers to apply it to cotton pads. If you prefer, watered-down tempera paint works, too, or you can grab some watercolors and a brush. Take a look around your house to see what supplies you can find.

Step 4: We placed our cotton pads on a big plate to get started. You can also use a tray or a tablecloth to prevent any liquid paint from spilling on your table. Check out the pictures for reference! We even used our beloved animal droppers! Encourage your child to use bright colors—think yellow, orange, pink, red, purple, and more. Let the fun begin and color your tulips!

Step 5: Once you finish coloring your cotton pad tulips, let them dry completely. Once dry, place them on white or green paper. Take a moment to decide where you’d like to position them. When you’re satisfied with their placement, you can draw the tulip stems and petals. For this, we used both dark and light green crayons to add a playful twist to our artwork.
Step 6: Now that your tulip stems are ready, it’s time for the final step: glue your cotton pad tulips onto the paper! You’ve done an amazing job creating these cheerful spring flowers. Now, you have the perfect Mother’s Day craft and gift to share!
