Aloha and welcome!
I’m so glad you found my website! My name is Marlon and I live in Honolulu. I’m originally from the Netherlands where I grew up near the sea. I studied graphic design and cultural heritage at the University of Amsterdam. I’ve always really liked working with children and with my two degrees I’d like to combine my love for art and culture with educating children.
A couple of years ago I did an internship abroad at the Honolulu Museum of Art and particularly the Art School. During this program I learned a lot about art education for children and Hawaii’s diverse culture. As an art, nature and ocean lover (part-time mermaid) it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with Hawaii. So, after graduating I returned to the island of O’ahu and I developed the idea of Ocean Child Crafts: a creative platform with colorful art and crafts for children and grownups.
This website is my happy place, where I celebrate life, beauty and creativity. I’m inspired by the gorgeous nature around me and by the amazing tiny humans I meet weekly during my work at the children’s museum. I hope it will inspire you and your family to join me and learn, craft and play with all day (recycled) materials. Whether you are a teacher, a passionate DIYer or a busy mom, I love to make crafting fun, easy and affordable for everyone.
Don’t forget to check out the free pintable’s, it’s an easy way to get your child started.
I hope you enjoy exploring the site, and mahalo for stopping by!
