Gather the craft supplies below if you would like to create the printable pop-up card.
Craft Supplies
- The PDF file (colored printable or color page printable)
- Printer
- White printing paper (preferably thicker paper)
- Scissor
- Glue stick
- Chopstick/branches and yarn (if you would like to create the garland)
- Color pencils, markers, or crayons (if you choose the color page printable)
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Print the printable. The printable size is A4, so if you print on letter size (a little bit smaller), reduce the file size. Go to “Print Preview” and use the “Shrink to Fit” option. Most computers do this automatically. I highly recommend printing on thicker paper!
Step 2: if you like using the color page printable, start coloring the background and woodland animals before cutting. You don’t have to use and color all the animals and trees; you can choose the one you like best.
Step 3: Take the printable with the background and cut off the white edges with a craft knife or scissors. Always supervise your child using a scissor and help your child with a craft knife!
Step 4: Take the printable and a scissor and cut around the lines of each illustration.
Step 5: Fold your background five times (on the small white folding lines) to create your pop-up card.
Step 6: Now, you can glue the illustrations you like on your pop-up card; we used a glue stick to glue as needly as possible.
Step 7: Give your woodland animals some party hats if you want to use your card as a birthday card or invitation.
Step 8: If you want to create the garland, cut out the colorful rhombus (kite) shapes and fold them in half to have a triangle. Take a piece of yarn and glue the triangle shapes on the string, ensuring the thread is in the middle. Take two chopsticks and attach the garland in the middle. You can also replace the garland for a banner with a cute message.
Step 9: You only need an envelope to send your costume-made pop-up card to a friend.
Happy crafting, my friends!
