How to Make a Paper Roll Reindeer Craft
Step 1: Prepare Your Paper Rolls
Start by gathering your materials. Take two toilet paper rolls and cut one in half. Cut one side open on the half roll so you can connect it to the full roll (see image above, step 1).
Step 2: Create Rudolph’s Face
From the leftover piece of your paper roll, cut out a small triangle shape for the reindeer’s face (see step 2). This will be Rudolph’s iconic nose and snout!
Step 3: Paint or Cover Your Reindeer
You can keep your reindeer the natural paper roll color, cover it with brown craft paper, or paint it brown. Acrylic or tempera paint works great for kids. Let it dry completely before moving on.
Step 4: Assemble the Reindeer Vase
Glue the paper rolls together; the smaller one forms Rudolph’s chest and supports the area around the vase. Attach the snout to the front (full paper roll). Use hot glue for a sturdy hold. See images 2 and 3 for reference.
Step 5: Add Antlers and Ears
Glue two small twigs on the inside top of the roll to form the antlers (see step 3 in the image above). You can also cut out antlers from cardboard or silver glitter paper for a fun sparkle. Cut out two ears from brown felt or paper and glue them beside the antlers. We glued down the twigs and felt ears with a glue gun (hot glue) to ensure the materials stuck well together.
Step 6: Add the Finishing Touches
Now it’s time for details! Paint or draw small white spots on the reindeer’s body. Add a red pom-pom for Rudolph’s nose and use a marker to draw sleepy eyes or a happy face. You can even add a touch of pink blush to the cheeks for an extra touch of cuteness. For inspiration, see the image below!
Step 7: Decorate Your Vase
Insert a few small pine branches, twigs, or flowers into the back roll. To make it festive, glue tiny colored shiny beads or tiny pom-poms onto the branches to look like colorful Christmas ornaments.
And there you have it, your adorable paper roll Rudolph vase is ready!
