Fun and Interactive Paper Easter Egg Craft: Get Started!
Below, we’ll give you some tips for using our Easter printable templates effectively.
We offer both an Easter egg and a carrot template in color and in black and white (for coloring). You can use the template in three ways:
- Print the template and trace it onto colored paper.
- Color the black-and-white template to use as a coloring page. Let your child color it, then cut it out and glue it together.
- Use the colored version. Simply cut it out and glue it together.
If you would like to use the Easter printable, we highly recommend using thicker (heavier) paper instead of regular printing paper. This will make it easier for little hands to work with and will ensure that your Easter egg or bunny is more durable.

Gather the craft supplies listed below and I will also explain how to make the craft from scratch with step-by-step instructions.

Easy Steps to Make a Paper Easter Egg and Carrot
Step 1: Take your colored paper and draw an egg shape on your favorite color. Our egg shape is about 9 CM high and 6,5 CM wide. If you find it hard to draw an egg shape, use the template and trace it on cardstock. Our orange carrot is 10 CM high and 5 CM wide. See picture a for reference.
Step 2: We now have our egg or carrot shape, and we’re going to cut it in half. You can choose to cut it straight or make a zigzag or wavy cut. We used our zigzag kid-friendly scissors, but you can also easily use regular scissors. If you find it challenging, you can trace the printable. Refer to Picture B above for guidance.

Step 3: Now that we have our egg or carrot shape, we can craft a chick or bunny. Ensure that your bunny or chick is not too large so that it can hide behind the egg or carrot. We used an oval shape for both the bunny and the chick and cut off the bottom. We made our chick 3 CM in hight and our bunny 5 CM in hight, 3 CM for the body (including the glue stroke) and 2 CM for the bunnies ears.
The ears of the bunny and the wings of the chick are also a similar oval shape. Refer to pictures F, G, and H for guidance. You can also use the printable template. Glue the ears of the bunny upwards so it fits behind the carrot, and glue the wings or the chick upwards or downwards so it fits behind the egg.

Creative Easter Ideas
Step 4: Use a black marker to draw a cute face on your bunny or chick. Alternatively, you can add tiny googly eyes to make your craft more interesting. Set your bunny or chick aside and allow it to dry.
Step 5: Now, we will glue the two parts of the egg/carrot on your clothespins. We used hot glue to glue the paper egg/carrot on our wooden clothespin so the different materials stick well.
