Easy paper roll cactus craft!

Paper roll cactus craft for kids! Did you know you can easily make a cactus from one paper roll? Paper rolls are one of the most versatile craft supplies; you can make anything from a paper roll. For this craft activity, you only need a few basic craft supplies. Use a small (kitchen towel) paper roll or a long (toilet) roll. We used a long paper roll for the big cactus and a small paper roll. So gather your craft supplies and create a cute paper roll cactus family!

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Gather the craft supplies you need for this craft

Step 2: Start by making your paper roll flat so you can quickly draw on it.

Step 3: First, draw the plant pot for the cactus. Use a pencil so you can easily erase it if necessary. The plant pot should make about 1/3 of your paper roll. And you want to make sure the left and right sides from the top of your plant pot stay connected. Look at the picture above for an example.

Step 4: Next, draw your cactus by drawing an oval shape. Ensure your paper roll stays connected (middle part). For the top, we traced a glass, so our cactus had a nice round edge.

Step 5: When you´re happy with your cactus, cut along the lines.

Step 6: Paint your paper roll cactus in the colors you like. We gave our cactus two layers of our favorite acrylic paint for the best coverage. But you can also use washable paint, a safe choice when you work with smaller kids!

Step 7: You can outline the plant pot with a black paint marker when your paint is dry. And give your cactus a cute face or a pair of googly eyes!

Step 8: With a white marker, we painted some spikes.

Step 9: Well done, your first paper roll cactus is done. Now let´s create the rest of the cactus family and try different shapes!
