Craft supplies for an easy butterfly craft
- Peanuts
- Paper roll
- Paint (small plate and sponge)
- Watercolors and paintbrush
- White cardstock or watercolor paper
- Twine (optional)
- Glue
Step-by-step craft instructions
Step 1: Gather the craft supplies.
Step 2: Start with your paper roll and paint. To make the butterfly stamp, gently bend the paper roll to create a nice oval-shaped butterfly wing (see picture). Add a small amount of paint on a plate and use a sponge to apply the paint on your paper roll. An old cleaning sponge will perfectly add the right amount of paint to your paper roll.
Step 3: First, create a test stamp on scrap paper. You can take your white paper sheet when you’re happy with your test stamp. Stamp four wings on your paper to create the perfect butterfly shape. Let your paint dry before you start coloring.
Step 4: color your wings with watercolors. Tip: first, use a paintbrush a gently cover your wings with water. This way, the watercolors will flow and blend nicely. To create a beautiful butterfly effect, use more paint on the inside of the wing and only water on the outside. The more paint and less water you use, the darker your colors will be.
Step 5: Let the paint dry and gather your peanuts. Look for the perfect peanut that matches the size of your butterfly.
Step 6: You can paint your peanuts in cheerful colors or leave them in natural colors.
Step 7: Make the butterfly antennas from twine. Cut a piece of string from 2/3 inches and fold it in half.
Step 8: Glue the antennas on your wings and glue the peanut body on top.
