Step-by-step potato stamp instructions
Step 1: Gather your craft supplies
Step 2: Cut the potatoes in half using a chopping board and a kitchen knife. If you like to create a cactus make sure you cut over the long side of the potato. You can use half a potato for your stamp or cut slices from about 1 inch thick. Always supervise your child when working with a knife.
Step 3: Carve in your design with a toothpick or a pencil with sharp point, then go over it with a tiny craft knife. Supervise and help your child!
Step 4: Remove the outside of your potato with a craft knife or kitchen knife. Make sure you supervise or help your child.
Step 5: With a paper towel you can wipe the moist from the potato, this way your stamp works better.
Step 6: Take a paper sheet or create little cards for your plant stamps from cardstock. I recommend to make a test stamp first on a piece of scrap paper or an old newspaper.
Step 7: Use a brush or sponge to add the paint to your potato stamp and make a test stamp. You can use washable paint from Crayola for example or acrylic paint, we used acrylic paint but both will work.
Step 8: Happy with the result? First start with the plant stamps on your paper. When your plant prints are dry add the pot stamps underneath.
Step 9: Draw a silly face on your plant with a black paint marker and some googly eyes.
Step 10: Add a nice message and a piece of twine and your gift tags are ready to use!
