Step by step craft instructions
Step 1: Because every wood slice has a different shape, I recommend starting off by tracing your wood slices on a piece of white paper. Then start sketching your penguins first, try to make each penguin a little different.
Step 2: When you have your sketches ready, start off with black acrylic paint and paint the outside of your penguin, depending on the coverage of your paint you might need a second layer.
Step 3: When the black paint is dry you create the beak and flippers of your penguin with orange or yellow acrylic paint.
Step 4: Create the eyes with white acrylic paint or a white paint marker. You can give your penguin different size eye balls to make them look a little bit funky.
Step 5: When all the paint is dry add some details and shadow and highlight with acrylic markers. We used a combination of the Posca paint markers and the markers from Søstrene and Grene. If you don’t have paint markers you can add some dimension with some coloured pencils too.
Step 6: If you have a protection spray for water then I suggest to give your penguin coasters a good spray before you use them.
