Craft Instructions On Joyful Christmas Dinosaur Craft.
Step 1: Gather the craft supplies above and print the printable. You can download the free dinosaur printable right here.
Step 2: Begin by creating a triangle from cardboard for your Christmas tree. For our dinosaur-themed Christmas tree, we measured the triangle with a base of 10 cm, and the left and right sides each measuring 15 cm. Draw this triangle on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. This will serve as the base for your craft project. See picture A.
Step 3: Begin with your green yarn and secure it to the top of your cardboard triangle using tape, as shown in picture A. Start wrapping the yarn around the triangle, working your way down. Continue wrapping until the entire triangle is covered with green yarn, as illustrated in pictures B, C, and D.
Step 4: Now that the Christmas tree-shaped base is complete, we can transform our triangle into a dinosaur. You can use the free printable to cut out the pieces and trace them onto green paper.
We’ll start with the spikes on the dinosaur’s back. First, draw a line that is 15 cm long on the green paper. Then, draw triangles on top of the line; we created 7 triangles that are each 2 cm wide. The size is optional—you can draw triangles of random sizes and see how many you can fit on the line. Finally, cut them out make sure you keep space for the glue stroke. See picture E.
Step 5: Your Christmas dinosaur has its famous spikes, great joh! Now we’re going to give it two triangular legs. You can use the printable template or cut out the two big green triangles. With a black Sharpie, draw some claws on them. Refer to pictures F and G for guidance.
Step 6: Now it’s time to create the dinosaur’s head. You can draw a large oval shape and give your dinosaur a googly eye. Then, draw a mouth with sharp teeth. See picture G or the printable for reference.
Step 7: Next, glue all the paper pieces onto your yarn triangle base. We use hot glue for this to ensure the different materials stick, but school glue will work as well.
Step 8: Finally, decorate your dinosaur Christmas tree with ornaments. We used little colorful pom poms, but you can also use buttons or sequins.
