It’s almost Halloween, and time for some spooky crafts. How fun are these chestnut spiders with an extra pop of color? We love to craft with natural materials such as chestnuts and combine them with other craft supplies. Like; pipe cleaners, beads, and google eyes, for example. Combining different craft materials makes these chestnut spiders look extra funky and spooky! Would you like to create this craft and then gather the craft supplies below?

Step-by-step instruction
Step 1: Gather the supplies listed above.
Step 2: Take your pipe cleaners and cut eight even legs from about 6 CM/2.5 inches. You can divide one pipe cleaner into five even parts and have about the right size.
Step 3: You need two big chestnuts. Start with the giant chestnut you have and poke nine holes in your saying (one spot in the front and four holes on each side). This chestnut will be the body of your spider. We used a skewer to poke the holes. This is a very sharp tool, so supervise and always help your child.
Step 4: Attach four legs on each “chestnut body” side by poking your pipe cleaners in the holes. Add some (hot)glue to ensure your pipe cleaners stick well.
Step 5: Put some beads in a bowl and decorate the legs with the colored beads you like. You can create different colored patterns or use random colors. When you have decorated your pipe cleaner (spider leg), bend the end piece so the beads don’t fall off. Or glue your last bead with hot glue.
Step 6: Cut a small piece (2 CM) of a toothpick and connect the spider’s head with the body. Poke one half of your toothpick in the body and the other half in the chestnut head. You can put some extra glue if you want it to stick well.
Step 7: Add some dots on the back of the spider with some acrylic paint or paint markers.
Step 8: Last but not least, add a pair of silly googly eyes on the head of the chestnut spider. We love to use googly eyes with lashes!
