Craft instructions for DIY Christmas finger puppets
Step 1: Gather the craft supplies above. Start with your egg carton and cut out the recycled egg carton triangle shapes (see picture B). Next, make your triangle shapes nice and even from the bottom side so they fit your fingers perfectly and can be turned into Christmas finger puppets.
Step 2: Color the egg carton triangles with the color you want for your Santa. We made five Santa puppets using green, pink, red, blue, and yellow. You can paint the cardboard using an old cleaning sponge and acrylic paint. Alternatively, tempera paint is also safe for children. Allow the paint to dry.
Step 3: Next, we will cut a beard for Santa from a cotton pad. Cut the cotton pad into a moon shape (see picture E). Pull the top layer from your cotton pad so your cotton is nice and fluffy (see picture F). Glue the moon-shaped cotton pad around your egg carton triangle, as shown in picture G.
Step 4: Cut a small circle from any skin-colored material to create Santa’s face. Then, cut a straight piece from the top so it doesn’t block Santa’s hat (refer to picture H). Glue the circle onto the egg-carton pyramid.
Step 5: Glue two small googly eyes onto Santa’s face and add a small bead for the nose. You can draw the face with a fine liner or marker if you don’t have beads and googly eyes.
Step 6: Cut a white strip from a piece of cotton or felt fabric to create the border of Santa’s hat, then glue this around the pyramid. This will make your egg carton pyramid look like Santa’s hat. See picture I.
Step 7: To finish, you can glue a pom-pom on top, as shown in picture K. Your Santa finger puppet is complete – great job! You can make multiple Santa puppets in different colors or make one of these fun Christmas puppets that will go well with your Santa puppet!
